Merchandise Market Manager

Position Summary:

The Merchandise Market Manager is responsible for developing and communicating the marketing strategies and vision to support the growing Merchandise Business for Highlights for Children. Lead the marketing planning, communication and execution of marketing campaigns seeing projects through to execution while meeting financial goals and continuously improving sales performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, communication, and execution of Merchandise marketing offer/strategies and timelines for Highlights’ Merchandise product line.
  • Responsible for driving the success and financial health of product marketing campaigns and channels in the direct to consumer sources and provide financial oversight. 
  • Further develop and evolve key marketing channels through testing while establishing and measuring KPIs.
  • Drive business decisions based on the review of product and campaign performance and reporting analytics, in collaboration with partners.
  • Partner with Merchandising Manager to create product marketing plan to meet sales goals. 
  • Provide Creative marketing direction and approval of all promotional materials.
  • Apply a deep understanding of external marketing trends–customers segment, competitive analysis, and best practices.
  • Prepare and present to the DTC Merchandise team, cross-functional teams, and senior management various plans and business decisions, proposals, and results.
  • Ensures that department goals are met and adhere to approved budgets/campaign goals.
  • Ensure smooth operations within existing business lines and innovate for future growth.
  • Help create business processes and efficiencies for this new and evolving portion of the business.
  • Develop and execute to 3-year business plan.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of marketing experience in direct marketing; some publishing experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing offer development, product positioning, and sales forecasting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a business strategy and to identify and recommend practical, actionable ideas designed to enhance business results year over year. 
  • Analytical skills necessary to understand the impact of business decisions and create and successfully manage budgets, with strong financial oversight and acumen, and a mastery of data assessment as it relates to the business.
  • Experience providing critical marketing and creative feedback to improve sales performance
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently plan and manage multiple, concurrent projects/campaigns across a variety of media in both traditional print and electronic/digital, with a strong understanding of direct mail, online and direct response strategies, formats, channels, and tactics.
